Finished truing the rim today...A search of the net found several articles on acceptable allowances in the truing process...one article said 2 mm another said 1/16 of an inch...I was able to get my rim between the two so I guess I am good to go! There was only one issue with the rim...the place where they welded the rim together...you could see grind marks and that is the only place on the rim that has a bit of movement...hopefully the tire will take care of that.
I was expecting the job of putting the tire on the rim to be a bear...however, it was not bad at all...used this plastic barrel to get it started...add some powder...made sure the tire was going in the right direction...soap and water...and voila!... satisfaction.
The hardest part was balancing the rim...I had to use like 3 oz of stick on weights to get it right...well close...I will not be going 100 miles per hour so close enough for the cool factor...LOL
Next came the S40 fireworks! God bless America...land that I love...da da da
Here are some of the bits cut off...I have officially done it...cut on the frame...no going back now! Forward controls...GONE!
I feel satisfied with today's progress...I am supposed to be painting the house...sorry honey but working on the motorcycle is way more fun...I think I will go and listen to "Iron Man" now...
